Recollection 1
This is a post of what i had promised to update in my Happy 2010 post.
My AirAsia trip on 30th December 2009 ( KL - BTU )
I departed from Malacca at 3am in the morning. Thanks to Qi Wei for sending me to LCCT airport all the way from Malacca. I reached LCCT around 5.00am and my flight is scheduled on 7am to Bintulu. I quickly checked for the location of Bintulu counter whether it's opened, NOT open yet. I headed towards the convenient story that sells books and flipped through the books while waiting for the time to pass. My temptation to buy another novel is getting on me again ... but i HAD to control my budget so i kept chanting to myself "not necessary ... too expensive ... no money .... " and at LAst !! I was able to avoid myself from spending !! Woo Hoo !!
Eventually, the counter for Bintulu changed from "tutup" to "Buka" and it switched from it's normal counter to another new counter. I walked the whole LCCT to look for the counter with the word Bintulu but there was none ?! It was published on the electrical board that counter 61 is for Bintulu but counter 61 is still displaying the name of another destination. I saw a few confused people as well and i guess they were looking for Bintulu counter too. LCCT was packed that morning, really really packed ! Like Kuala Lumpur is gonna explode or something and everyone is rushing to escape.
I got frustrated and timidly asked one of the confused looking person if counter 61 is Bintulu, he said yes but still unsure of why the destination name did not change. It is already 1 and half hour towards boarding time and it's kinda impossible that the counter is still not open. So we just lined up at that counter with other confused looking faces passengers whom we assume that are heading to Bintulu too. Hahaha ~
The crew finally came and open the counter after a long wait of about 15 minutes. Then they went off again don't know for what reason leaving a long line of Bintulunians waiting to check in. It was another VERY LONG wait and i am already considered one of the early ones at the line, after i FINALLY get to check in, it was only about 40 minutes left to boarding time ! SO i quickly went in and waited at the appointed gate.
AGAIN ... another confusion .... that particular gate was displaying the name of other destination "penang" .... and AGAIn ... i looked for a seat with the other confused looking faces of passengers. I enjoyed the time alone by watching every person who is headed to Bintulu, with their confused expression when they see the name displayed at the gate "penang" ... Some asked the others, some just sit down confused and looking around, some just didn't care and immediately looked for seats at the front row near to the lining up section.
When we finally get to line up, the announcer announced something very unclearly but everyone stood up immediately after hearing the word "Bintulu" being mentioned. As usual, the ones with express boarding pass and childrens and elders would have to walk first before the others can pass through. At that time, not only our gate is releasing people, there were 2 other gates releasing passengers to their planes at the same time. There are also 2 plane which just touched down and the passengers were walking past the glass doors. 1 word to describe ? TOTAL CHAOS !
after handing my ticket to be checked by the stewardess, she mentioned some gate name blurly and i walked quickly to catch up with the person in front of me to go to our plane. ALAS ! When we walked along the corridor until almost at the end, i suddenly saw some familiar faces walking the opposite direction. I got confused and asked them "where is btu plane?" then they said "wrong gate ... past already .... " so a whole crowd of people were turning back and looking for the right plane. Those behind like me could only follow the passengers in front as we have no idea where the plane is !
They went to ask some air stewardess standing at the corridors where is the plane that heads to Bintulu, then 1 air stewardess pointed that it's at the first corridor, so we walked there. But upon reaching there, when another air stewardess asked where is our destination, she told us that btu is not at this corridor ! The crowd was getting bigger now with MORE confused passengers standing along the corridor, gathering in confusion.
We had to wait for the air stewardess to confirm the plane and some workers around the area was curious with the big crowd gathered around the area and asked the passengers where were we heading to. They pointed us to a plane at that very corridor and told us that it is the plane that leaves for Bintulu. SO ... the whole crowd walk towards the plane frustrated. But when the first few person stepped into the plane, they backed out again asking the whole crowd to move back down because it's not the right plane !!! OMG ... where the heck is our plane ??? No one knows and the air asia groundsmen are simply giving us directions !!
We walked all the way back to the same spot where we gathered and this time, not only Bintulu passengers are confused, even the other passengers heading to other destinations are confused too ! ANOTHER CHAOS !! I pitied the pregnant lady and an old aunty who were carrying their hand luggage as they were quite tired walking up and down from one end to another end. TRUST ME ! it's really from one end to another end and back to the same spot again !!
I told them to hold on and wait while i look for the correct advice, i noticed some familiar faces of the passengers from the confused look group and saw them walking towards another corridor quite confidently and told the aunties to follow me as i am SURE that it leads to the CORRECT plane this time ! It had to be it because all the others are wrong ! Luckily i was correct and we quickly boarded the plane in a very frustrated manner. Everyone was pissed and mad.
Photo Comment: a glimpse of the plane before boarding ..
The flight was delayed another 1 hour as the take off time for our plane has passed and we had to wait for an empty slot to take off. My phone suddenly died from it's battery and i had to thick-facely ask the passenger beside me to borrow his handphone for me to message my sister who is picking me about my delayed flight. Luckily i ordered online for a nasi lemak as i was SUPER hungry from all the walks and waiting. Everyone was so relieve after the plane took off ...
Air Asia should seriously consider to upgrade the corridor area with signboards on which corridor leads to our right plane as not everyone can keep up with the person in front of us ! There is also no one to show us the correct path along the corridor and no stewardess standing at the t-junction of the corridor with destination signs to lead passengers to the correct plane ! I believe this is not the first time that such events happened. It is either the air stewardes fault for not standing at the corridor with the "to Bintulu" sign, or the Air Asia Company for lack of facilities to the passengers convenience. I hope that no such events would happen again as passengers suffer from such lack of service, especially the elder ones and pregnant ladies who didn't buy express boarding passes.
ANother interesting event that happened when the plane finally reached our destination is that ... about 30 second before the plane touch down, someone's handphone actually RINGed very LOuDLY which STARTLED everyone in the plane including the phone owner himself !!! I am definitely aware that handphone signals would disrupt the communication of the pilot with the tower !! I was like "OMG ! who the hell did not off his phone ? and it's just about to touch down ! Can the pilot handle ?? Is the plane gonna crash ?!?!".
Then, when the plane finally touch down, it was SO ROUGH and more like a "THUD" towards the ground and a loud jerking sound that made the whole plane swerve to the left a bit and back to it's course ... everyone in the plane was like sitting on the edge of the seats ... i was FRANTICALLY praying in my heart "GOD ! I don't wanna die yet !! Please let us land safely !! PLEASE ! PLEASE ! PLEASE !" and i was actually sweating in that COLD aircraft !! COld Sweats !!
Thank GOD that the plane finally stopped safely .... i was already imagining things like the whole plane running out of the runway and ramming into the airport buildings and exploding and me burning in my seats and my parents crying over my ugly burnt corpse ... and friends who would cry for me if i were gone, which property of mine goes to who and stuffs !! I DAMN don't feel like sitting on a plane EVER AGAIN !! AARRGGHHHH !!! @$(*&#*%^&#%^*#&$(@&#)_@(#* !!!!
i totally took a deep deep breath the moment i stepped out of the plane. DAMN ... it was quite a scary experience ! So Frustrated at first then leads to scary !! I Bet that any of you who was on that particular flight would complain more than i do ! It was really a very unpleasant experience i had with Air Asia.
Lucky i bought MAS for my next trip back to Bintulu ... if Not ! *sigh*
